Penn State Aftermath: Time to Review Fiduciary Responsibility

The recent events involving the abrupt dismissal of two Penn State leaders – Joe Paterno, the iconic head football coach, and Graham Spanier, the seasoned university president – should cause most non-profit leaders to review their own practices. Even as I write, I am certain that more news will be forthcoming from State College, Pennsylvania. I am not focusing on the particulars of the allegations that led to the sequence of successive events. UMF Collective Investment Funds
of Michigan LLC

This investment option allows participants to select the desired mix of stock and fixed income investments by participating in a Stock Fund, Bond Fund and Money Market Investment Account. Participants may change their allocation between these funds as often as weekly or may select automatic annual rebalancing. Participants may increase their exposure to the equity markets by increasing their participation in the Stock Fund or, alternatively, reduce the anticipated volatility of the portfolio by reducing their equity exposure. The money market investment account also provides a place for funds requiring liquidity at all times. The Offering Circular below can be downloaded for more detailed information about the funds.

Pooled Congregation Fund

The Pooled Congregation Fund of the United Methodist Foundation of Michigan was available to investors until late 2009. At that time, investments were transferred to our Collective Investment Fund & Collective Money Market Investment Account (see above). The fund performance history reported here is from 1995 through October 2009.
