That's because The United Methodist Foundations of both Detroit and West Michigan conferences are working toward becoming a single United Methodist Foundation to serve the entire Michigan area. Our new web address will be www.UMFMichigan.org is now available for you to use. Be sure to bookmark it for the future. For 50 years after its founding in 1926, there was a single foundation serving the state of Michigan. In the late 1970s, The Methodist Foundation of Michigan was divided along anual conference lines and designed to serve those more localized constituencies. After nearly 30 years, it appears that it is time to restore a single entity to serve the Michigan area more comprehensively. The Stewardship Foundation of Michigan already serves the stewardship needs of the entire Michigan area. It will continue to be the sister agency to the new United Methodist Foundation of Michigan. The respective boards of the two existing Foundations are in the process of working together to create the new unified entity that will effectively serve the entire state.
